SACRIFICIAL GIVING

Dearly Beloved,

Greetings to you in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. By the special grace of the almighty God, the theme for this month shall be SACRIFICIAL GIVING.

WHAT’S SACRIFICIAL GIVING

It’s one thing to give to God, it’s another thing to give sacrificially. The difference between the former and the latter kind of giving lies in the gravity of the expense to the giver. That is, unless the act of giving takes a heavy toll on the giver, it’s not considered sacrificial. One Bible character who understood this principle of giving to God was David when he professed “… for I will not offer to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” — 2 Samuel 24:24. Please also read the account of the Widow in Luke 21:1-4.

Even though God honours every act of giving to Him, He however places a huge premium on sacrificial giving. When you give sacrificially to God, you’re essentially invoking God’s divine supernatural presence over your life. No wonder God visited Solomon in his dreams the night after he had intentionally offered a thousand burnt offerings to God (2 Chronicles 1:6-7).

WHAT CAN YOU GIVE TO GOD SACRIFICIALLY?

If you’re probably wondering what you could give sacrificially to God, below are a few examples:

  1. Your time – you could spend your time knowing more about God.
  2. Your skills (or intellect) – you could devote your skills (or intellect) for the advancement (or showcase) of God’s kingdom here on earth.
  3. Your finances – you could sow your tithes and offerings sacrificially.
  4. Your praise and worship – God loves to dwell in the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3)

SOME BENEFITS OF SACRIFICIAL GIVING

Below are some benefits of giving sacrificially to God.

  1. Similar to the cushion effect of saving for a rainy day, your sacrificial giving to God could be the panacea for sustaining you in your days of lack (1 Kings 17:7-16).
  2. Unlimited blessings not just for you alone but also for your loved ones (Genesis 22:17).
  3. You’ll enjoy God’s favour and excel in life where others have struggled (Psalm 90:17).
  4. You’ll receive God’s mercy in the days when you seek it the most (Matthew 26:7)

Happy new month!

Yours in HIS service,

David Ndukwu
