Eight years ago, we gathered in a small hall in Sydney with a big conviction: that the Gospel has the power to transform this city. That conviction has not changed. If anything, it has deepened. We have seen marriages restored, addictions broken, families reunited, and lives rebuilt from the ground up. Not because of our programmes or our platform — but because the Gospel is still the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. That is why we exist.
Sydney is a beautiful, complex, and spiritually hungry city. Behind the postcard — the harbour, the beaches, the busyness — are people carrying loneliness, grief, and a sense that something essential is missing. We are not here to build a religious institution. We are here to be a community of light in a city that needs it. Every person who walks through our doors is someone God has drawn — and our job is to make sure they encounter not just a programme, but a living Christ.
The mission of Amazing Grace Parish is not carried by the leadership team alone — it is carried by every member. You are the church in your workplace, your neighbourhood, your family gatherings. Your life is the loudest sermon you will ever preach. As we mark eight years of God's faithfulness, I want to call each of us back to our purpose: to love God, love people, and make disciples. That is why we are here — and there is no greater way to spend a life.
